Travelex Launches Prepaid MasterCard

According to this article in BTN Online Travelex has launched a prepaid card in conjunction with MasterCard that will allow corporations to save money and enhance controls when traveling internationally.

Travelex's Corporate Cash Passport Tool is loaded with US dollars and is accepted at ATMs and vendors that accept MasterCard products globally. Corporations can use these cards to set spending limits and budgets for its employees. This card also eliminates costs associated with currency exchange fees by reducing the amount of money that will need to be exchanged. This card has already sparked interest in big corporations like Virgin Atlantic and British Airways just to name a few.

Hiten Card Chooses Actress Saumya Tandon to be Brand Ambassador for Hiten Prepaid Mastercard

According to this latest press release Hiten Cards Limited have signed Saumya Tandon, host for “Dance India Dance”, to be the brand ambassador for the hiten Prepaid MasterCard® Card. Saumya Tandon is delighted to get involved with hiten as she mentions, "When I was introduced to this product I was eager to get involved,the hiten Prepaid MasterCard product allows families to share money with each other and family is very important to me.”

It will be interesting to see what other prepaid card companies will use celebrities to endorse their cards.

Macy's prepaid card offers alternative

ReadyCREDIT has teamed up with Macy's to provide a prepaid solution to their shoppers with poor credit. At some of their stores, they have kiosks that dispense prepaid MasterCard ReadyCards, that offer all of the perks as the Macy's credit card. They have been available since 2005. They are open-loop, so they can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted. These kiosks are now being tested at Best Buy. Read the full story here.

Acorn Prepaid Mastercard introduced by Lloyds TSB

Lloyd's TSB launched the Acorn prepaid MasterCard so that employers in the UK could pay their unbanked employees with the same turn around time as the banked employees.

Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance has introduced the Acorn prepaid card to enable agencies to pay their temporary unbanked staff in the same way as banked staff. Employees receive instant access to their wages and gain the added flexibility of a card that can be used to pay in both real and virtual environments where MasterCard is accepted and withdraw cash from ATMs, according to CredEcard.

New prepaid card from Tuxedo Money Solutions

Tuxedo Money Solutions, a UK based prepaid card program provider, has issued a new prepaid card. The Corporate MasterCard Prepaid Card is targeted at the UK business community.

Features include:

The card is issued by financial services providers Newcastle Building Society. Cardholders who opt for the Tuxedo Corporate Card can access and view their monthly expenditure online and subsequently export their expenses into a spreadsheet (such as the one provided by Microsoft Excel). The card can also be blocked and unblocked by the user either online or via text message in case there is a suspected security breach. Funds can be added or taken from the card as well as moved from one card to another by an administrator also online or via text message.

The Range gets a prepaid card

At The Range, a retail chain in the UK, a new prepaid MasterCard is available. They are the first retailers in the UK to launch a prepaid MasterCard.

Chris Dawson, the CEO, believes it is a great time to enter into this part of the finance sector.
