US Department of Employment Services Pay Summer Youth Workers with Visa Payroll Cards

According to this post on the ePaymentnews Network, the Washington D.C. Department of Employment Services will begin paying their summer youth participants with JP Morgan-issued Visa debit cards.

This is being done as an alternative payment method to payroll checks. It will also reduce costs associated with printing paper checks. There are over 19,000 youth participants in the 2008 Passport-to-Work-Summer Youth Program. Participants will have immediate access to their money on pay day, have a unique personal identification number, and they will be able to use the cards anywhere Visa is accepted.
